A mutant of spikelet differentiation in rice called frizzle panicle (fzp) was discovered in the progeny of a cross between Oryza sativa ssp. indica cv. V20B and cv. Hua1B. The mutant exhibits normal plant morphology but has apparently fewer tillers. The most striking change in fzp is that its spikelet differentiation is completely blocked, with unlimited subsequent rachis branches generated from the positions where spikelets normally develop in wild-type plants. Genetic analysis suggests that fzp is controlled by a single recessive gene, which is temporarily named fzp(t). Based on its mutant phenotype, fzp(t) represents a key gene controlling spikelet differentiation. Some F(2) mutant plants derived from various genetic background appeared as the "middle type", suggesting that the action of fzp(t) is influenced by the presence of redundant, modifier or interactive genes. By using simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers and bulked segregant analysis (BSA) method, fzp(t) gene was mapped in the terminal region of the long arm of chromosome 7, with RM172 and RM248 on one side, 3.2 cM and 6.4 cM from fzp(t), and RM18 and RM234 on the other side, 23.1 cM and 26.3 cM from fzp(t), respectively. These results will facilitate the positional cloning and function studies of the gene.

By using quantitative traits additive-dominance genetics model and developmental genetics model, this paper analyzed the developmental behaviors of gene expression for Hibiscus cannabinu plant height and stem diameter at its different growth stages. The results showed that at different growth stages, the unconditional and conditional genetics effects of plant height all showed dominance, while the additive effect was weak. No additive effect was found for stem diameter, but dominance effect was significant at each growth stage. Plant height and stem diameter all had active gene expression from July 28 to August 9, and from September 2 to September 14. There was no additive correlation between plant height and stem diameter, but positive dominance correlation was significant after August 21. The unconditional and conditional genetics effects of plant height and stem diameter were not completely the same. According to practice, conditional genetic analysis could indicate the gene expression more truly in the whole growth period. The ecological and genetics variation patterns of Hibiscus cannabinus plant height and stem diameter at different space-time growth stages implied by our research was of significance in Hibiscus cannabinus genetics and breeding in both theory and practice.

The genetic diversity among 27 accessions of Corchorus, including 10 Jute species, was investigated with ISSR technique. 283 DNA bands were amplified with 25 ISSR primers, among which, 263 (92.85%) were polymorphic, with 10.48 bands per primer in average. A further systemic cluster analysis indicated that the accessions could be clustered into three groups, and the group II (including two cultispecies and their close wild species) was obviously genetically different from the groups I and III (including eight wild species). Moreover, 16 accessions in group II presented a higher intraspecific genetic resemblance, while 11 accessions among groups I & III showed an abundant interspecific genetic diversity. After synthesized the relevant findings of morphology and DNA classification, it's found that C. urticifolius could be one of the original wild species, C. tilaculariszic was a variation of C. tilaculari, and Tian Jute could be an untitled wild species.
